- 1870, Albert Lea Bucket Brigade is formed
- 1879, Albert Lea Fire Department is organized
- 1879, steam engine water pump and two hose carts pulled by horses
- 1891, waterworks system is completed
- 1903, new City Hall on North Broadway housed the Fire Department in two floors
- 1918, the first motor-driven water pump goes into service
- 1948, Fire Department becomes a fully paid organization
- 1968, Fire Department moves to 221 East Clark Street
- 1991, combines with Albert Lea Township Fire Department
