Don’t Moldly Go Where No One Has Gone Before; SERVPRO of Austin & Albert Lea Mitigates the Mold
Mold and Mildew
That was going to be the name of our band, but cooler heads at SERVPRO® of Austin & Albert Lea prevailed. We also thought of “The Microbial Growth Spurt”, upon which one person suggested “The Vow of Silence Choir” would be better, so we gave up.
The Point
Microbial growth, including mold and mildew, is the nadir of uninvited guests: it stinks, it grows, invites its friends to stay, and causes destruction. Microbial growth causes health problems, eats everything, and is hard to get rid of without professional help.
We are professional help.

Many descriptions of mold mitigation use “mold”, “mildew”, “fungi” and “microbial growth” to mean the same thing. For the most part, we say “mold”, which is okay since the mitigation is the same.
Why Choose SERVPRO of Austin & Albert Lea to Mitigate Mold?
- Our franchise is part of a company that has decades of experience cleaning up and disinfecting mold and other biohazards
- Mold mitigation is a “don’t try this at home” job. We have respirators and masks, training, and the right equipment and products

Entertaining Information
Mold:
- Usually looks fuzzy
- May be brown, yellow, gray, black, white, green, or blue
- Can cause damage to most surfaces (we haven’t seen a surface it can’t destroy)
- Needs only a little moisture to grow
- May cause health problems
- Has a strong, musty odor
- Has subtypes that are used in making cheese (don’t try that with the stuff in the bathroom)
- Is the basis for some antibiotics (again, don’t try that)
Mildew:
- Usually grows in a flat pattern
- May look powdery or downy
- Powdery mildew usually starts out white, & often turns yellow, brown, or black
- Damages plants
- Often has a strong odor
- Gives us the creeps, which is why we enjoy using the disinfectants to kill it
Yes, we do find that kind of information entertaining.
Mold, mildew, and other microbial growth don’t stand a chance against SERVPRO of Austin & Albert Lea.
